Curriculum Choices
This post is specifically for Keri, but if anyone else is interested in what home school curriculum we will be using this year please keep reading.....
This year I will have three, yes three, in school! I get a little twitch in my left eye when I think about it and the responsibility it requires. At the same time, I am beyond thankful how God's plan was bigger and better than mine and I am able to teach my precious children at home. I'm also still amazed at how much I really learn about myself in teaching them....it. is. so. humbling.
Carter will be in 3rd grade, Caden 2nd and Isabel Kindergarten. All three will be attending a co-op on Tuesday and Thursday. The co-op has been a huge blessing in this homeschooling journey.
2nd and 3rd Grade
History - Story of the World, Volume 4 (Tapestry of Grace, this year we are doing year 4)
- Tapestry of Grace, year 4, unit 4 lapbook kit *my kids LOVE making lapbooks*
Science - Ein-O's Discovery Tank: Mechanical Science
3rd Grade
Language Arts - Shurley English 3, including practice booklet
- A Reason for handwriting, transition workbook (they will be in the cursive section of book)
- All About Spelling level 2
Math - Saxon Intermediate 3
2nd Grade
Language Arts - Shurley English 2, including practice booklet
- A Reason for handwriting, transition workbook
- All About Spelling level 1 (may go to level 2 pretty quickly, just have to see)
Math - Saxon 3
Kindergarten
Language Arts - Go Phonics, level 1
- Phonics Pathways
- A Reason for Handwriting, K
Math - Saxon K (we will start 1 after Christmas, it seems K is pretty basic)
* I will be doing science and history as well, but it will be along with what the big boys are doing just simpler
Bible - How to study your Bible for kids, Kay Arthur
- Bug Truths for Little Kids, Susan Hunt & Richie Hunt (we are working on learning all the catechisms)
- scripture memorization
We will also be reading as a family The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis
.....after writing it all out I think my twitch is back.....I do have a "new to me" organization system that I will post about in the near future.

Stay Afloat
This past weekend we spent some time at the pool.
Caden was showing off his wonderful back floating ability.
Carter on the other hand decided he needed to have some help to stay up (his feet kept sinking).......

Craft Supplies
Your son may have a love of crafts like you if.....
You send your boys to spend a few days with the grandparents. he finds an empty toilet paper roll at their house. he then packs it in his bag to bring home.
"We could use it for something" I was told. Yes we can son, yes we can.

Happy 1st Birthday Cannon!
It's no secret that I absolutely LOVE to plan a party. Especially if it's to celebrate one of my little ones turning another year older. Even though I know Cannon B will not remember his first birthday party, we have lots of pictures to prove that he had one and had a blast!
Cannon has been our best eater yet and so far he's not a picky eater at all. So a Very Hungry Caterpillar theme was perfect!
In the form of a very hungry caterpillar wreath, a picture from each month of his first year.
Cannon is a HUGE fruit eater and the fact that the first 5 foods the caterpillar eats in the book is fruit made for perfect party food.
Of course you can't just have fruit :)
Outside entertainment - feed the hungry caterpillar
Caterpillar Croquet
and smash cake for little man.
He had no problem diving right in!

Thanks to my mother-in-law and Ann's Balloons we had an adorable very hungry caterpillar balloon arch.
